We're thrilled to introduce our latest project, lovingly known as The Gingerbread House.
Alterations and additions to a single family “Catskill Cottage” included both a new (and expanded existing) living room with a built-in box-bay window seat, zero clearance firebox, and a second floor primary bedroom / bath suite. For this project the design intention was to use historic stylistic design references from nineteenth century New York Architects Calvert Vaux and A.J. Downing.
Space constraints dictated the cantilevering of a small second floor hallway to reach the new primary bedroom suite. This approach took advantage of the protected Southern exposure and created a glassed “loggia” effect. Woodworking details include exterior brackets and corbels, carved barge boards, and trim work as well as repairs and upgrades to the existing residence.
