Carefully sited to form one side of the existing academic campus, the Oakwood Friend School's new Math and Science building was built with the expressed design intentions of simplicity, utility and practical beauty. The building utilizes a frost wall foundation with a slab on grade, light gauge metal frame, insulated extruded aluminum exterior windows and doors, and EIFS / Masonry exterior cladding systems built to last. The building program includes three dedicated science labs, two all-purpose classrooms, a medium-sized lecture/meeting room, together with necessary circulation and support spaces. Extra high ceilings, simple yet traditional detailing, and the inclusion of natural daylight to all principal spaces combine to make this building truly unique.
