Bard College Dormitories

Annandale-on-Hudson, NY

Originally developed in 2001 and now totaling 14 buildings, this series of environmentally friendly student housing was arranged as a village street, linking existing North and South Campus areas. All buildings utilize geothermal energy for heating and cooling, enhanced insulation envelopes, and non-virgin growth exposed wood timbers. The buildings consist of two plan types: a two-story L-shaped dormitory with one and two bedroom units sharing common living, kitchen, bathroom and support spaces, as well as a four unit plan of two story apartments, each with three bedrooms and shared kitchen, bathroom and living spaces. These building have proved to be some of the most popular living quarters on campus.
